Self-care Sundays—take time to reboot
The last few weekends I've been away or entertaining friends, and felt like I haven't had a true relaxing Sunday to reboot before the week starts.
As a result, I've felt super drained heading into the week—unmotivated and honestly stressed at every little thing.
I don't have time to take a break.
Time, commitments and other excuses always get in the way of not being able to take a moment to unwind, reset and be ready to take on the next challenge.
Some may call it self-care, or me-time—whatever it is to you, take it, you need it more than you think you do.
On that note, recently, my friend Courtney told me that we don't celebrate our accomplishments enough. I think this whole concept is similar to taking a moment for yourself to do whatever it is you need to do to reset for your next challenge.
Acknowledge that you've reached a milestone. It's Sunday, you got through a week of work and challenges, a full seven days, honour that, appreciate that, and reward yourself with whatever it is you need to refuel before your next battle.
How will you celebrate yourself and give yourself what you need to reboot?
Here are some things I do on my Sundays to recharge:
- Take yourself to Nordik spa
- Go to a spin class
- Go to a workout
- Go for a run
- Go for a walk
- Go for a drive
- Bail on plans, and sit on the couch and do absolutely nothing, because that's okay
- Clean your house from clutter
- Read a book
- Watch TV
- Make yourself a meal
- Order in takeout
- Call your mom
- Avoid social media
- Have a glass (or bottle) of wine
Whatever it is, make sure it's something you know will help you to celebrate what you've accomplished to prepare you for the week ahead.
