Caitlin goes shopping for drugs.

For those of you who are new to the party, cannabis is legal in Canada now.

A new recreational cannabis store opened up a few blocks down, Hobo, and I wouldn't have told you it was that from the look of it. It actually replaced a super run-down distribution store before legalization came into effect.

I'll be honest, I don't know a lot about pot. But I was super curious to check it out and see what the experience was. I'll tell you about it.

With soft carpets, large windows, warm wood, and bright colors two smiling people greet me at the door and ask politely for my I.D. — if I didn't know any better, I'd say I was shopping at an Apple Store in NYC.

Inside there are rows of iPads and walls of product displays. You scroll through the iPads to learn about all the different strains and look through recommended products based on your interests.

When you're ready, you approach the checkout counter and tell the clerk what you'd like. You get your product in a small paper bag, and you leave the store.

Honestly, the retail standard blew my mind.

All I can say is the LCBO has to step up their game, so many regulated industries are stuck in the past, we need more of this open concept and welcoming purchase experience. I bet Hobo is making them green with envy.
